Accessibility

“If it is inaccessible to the poor, it is neither radical nor revolutionary.”

All people deserve access to bodywork. Self-healing should not be privilege; it should be a right. And yet that is not our reality.

In our society, healthcare has become a commodity for profit, restricting all of our lives. In fact, certain people face disproportional restrictions caused by racism, classism, and sexism. Through discrimination and violence, minorities, whether they be of religious, cultural, ethnic, racial, linguistic, national, or sexual or gender difference, are more likely to have their healthcare resources limited. Access to healthcare and wellness becomes rife with economic as well as cultural barriers. As a result, so many are uninvited from healing through the work of massage therapy.

To welcome all people into my practice, Touch Ceremony organizes the following accessibility programs and initiatives.

  • Sliding-Scale Payment

While my services have a set value, all clients are welcome to slide up or slide down from those listed price points so that our work together is sustainable for both of us. I am comfortable with navigating the sliding-scale payment process with clients in person through open discussion, to make sure the exchange is transparent and fair.

  • Bi-monthly sponsored massage sessions

Every other week a 75-minute Integrated Session is available for $40.00 to a prospective client whose income or life circumstances does not allow them the means to meet our normal price points. Interested persons are invited to contact me to learn more or schedule a sponsored massage session. Black and Indigenous clients will be given priority.

  • Pay-What-you-can Pricing

A pay-what-you-can pricing option is available to Black people and or Indigenous people.
